Post to SparkWord California Economic Crisis

This may sound kind of fascist, but does anyone else think it has to do with those gosh-darn stubborn Californians?

They voted to ban gay marriage. They voted against Governor Schwarzenegger's desperate attempt at reigning in expenses through a badly-needed tax increase.  The state is huuuuuuge. They need to be reigned in themselves, show a little unity, y'know?

Here's a little piece of advice: don't make Kindergarten Cop your governor.

@open --

I am sorry, but I just plain don't accept that.

When you are a public figure, you are a public figure. Period.

No matter how distaste Jon had for the life of fame which HE CHOSE, he knew perfectly well that he was a huge media target.  The Paparazzi have been following him, his wife and his children since the premiere of their show.  Their kids can hardly get from the van to the supermarket without hundreds of flashbulbs popping in their faces.

He did his entire family an awful disservice by subjecting them to this tortuous media ordeal. No doubt it affects all of his eight children -- adversely.

Whoops!

Big mistake, guys. I actually meant Edward Libby, head of AIG. Not Scooter. Sorry.

Thoughts?

Did you guys hear about this? It just broke today:http://www.nytimes.com/2009/06/04/us/04deport.html?ref=global-home

Basically, there was this awful, regressive, ridiculous bush-era law which basically said that illegal immigrants have no way to challenge their lawyers legally if they feel they did a bad job.

Dumb and regressive doesn't even begin to cover this.  Kudos to Eric Holder for reversing that!

Post to SparkWord American Federation of Teachers

Guys, just because there's no where for the children to learn, is that the fault of the teachers? That's like saying government workers shouldn't be allowed to strike because it's hard for people to get to work. Maybe newspaper employees shouldn't strike. We have to read the news, right?

The FDA has definitely lost quality over time.

Why? Primarily because they allow chemicals and hazardous substances to permeate nearly everything we eat.  50 years ago, we ate local, farm-grown foods.  And let me tell you -- we did not have the Swine Flu and other horrible viruses which breed in current factory conditions.

That's the plan. I mean, if I'm not mistaken 2008 was the first year in many (how many? Wasn't able to find that out) that the GDP had contracted.  Seems to take alot to do this. Once we're here, however, it is pah-reety darn bad.  What will it take to stop contracting?

Post to SparkWord child tax credit

Um, we're not 'rewarding people for having tons of kids."

Is it fair for a couple for four children to have to pay the same as a couple with no children?  That's called common sense. Fairness.
