This is a win-win. By offering more options, Apple will appeal to even more consumers than it already did. In turn, people who wouldn't normally be able to afford an iPhone might now have access.

Definitely old. The plot and technology were simpler, but more awesome, if that makes any sense. Then again, I was a wide-eyed kid who thought anything on TV was mind-blowingly awesome. After being bombarded with technology after all these years, it takes a lot more to make an impression.
