Iraq War

Is Iraq really ready for U.S. withdrawal by the end of the month?

Post to SparkWord Grey's Anatomy

T.R. and Katherine have both wanted off the show for months now, so it's not really a surprise that one of them was let go. I don't think it will hurt the show in the long run- George's character didn't have a major storyline until the end of the season, yet this past season was one of the show's best. The off-screen drama prevented the show from getting the recognition it deserves.

Post to SparkWord The Sunnygram

Now, Gramps can write old-fashioned letters to his granddaughter, who can e-mail him in response. The Sunnygram service receives e-mails, prints them out and hand-delivers them- and vice-versa- for $9.95 per month.  Other companies such as Celery and Presto receive e-mails and deliver them in real time through various types of hardware, like faxes. Worthwhile investment or are these services already facing a short lifespan in these tech-savvy times?

Post to SparkWord Kindle DX

For convenience, it's a great idea....however, isn't the Kindle hundreds of dollars? That automatically eliminates a great number of people. Sadly, I think newspapers are still doomed.

Furthermore, what constitutes "the highest moral character" in social networking terms? No scandalous pictures? No evidence of smoking or drinking? No cursing? I would think the city would place the highest value on an employee's commitment, honesty, ability and past experience- none of which are always expressed on Facebook or YouTube.

99 cents vs. $80,000? I do feel bad for this woman, but she should at least have been smart enough to disable the file-sharing option... Isn't that what everyone else does? Meanwhile, I'll stick to legal purchases- I don't want to take my chances.

I don't know how PETA expects people to take the organization seriously when they make ridiculous public requests like that. They're becoming more and more of a joke.

Post to SparkWord FAA and DOT

The head of the National Air DisasterAlliance/Foundation is suing the FAA and DOT http://www.usatoday.com/travel/flights/2009-02-26-airline-safety-suit_N.htm?&;obref=obnetwork  for apparently not improving air safety quickly enough. The suit states that recommendations made in 1996 on aircraft performance in icy conditions still have not been appropriately addressed and might have contributed to crashes in 1997, 2005 and last February. What are they waiting for?

So basically we're all flying at our own risk?

Post to SparkWord George Bush

More important, Bush backed his own stimulus package, with the government dishing out billions of dollars to help unfreeze the economy. AND he sent Gitmo detainees to a Saudi rehabilitation camp...but now, of course it's the "private sector's" responsibility and "therapy" isn't going to work.

Post to SparkWord Supersonic Travel

My faith in the airline industry is steadily dropping, as we hear of more crashes, more layoffs, more costs for services that used to be free ($25 charge for one suitcase?!) And the article says Concorde tickets used to cost about $10,000! Who knows what the economy will be like five years from now, but the idea of someone paying anywhere near that price for one ticket is a little hard to fathom right now.

Post to SparkWord Blackberry Tour 9630

Resembling a cross between the Curve and the Bold, the latest Blackberry model has many of the same features as its rivals, including a 3.2 MP camera and built-in GPS system and - unlike the Palm Pre - is able to synch music from iTunes. A big plus is that it will be available through Sprint AND Verizon Wireless. Worth a shot? Read more here: http://weblogs.variety.com/technotainment/2009/06/rim-unveils-its-next-blackberry.html

Not to be outdone by iPhone or Pre, RIM introduces the Tour.

Post to SparkWord Summer TV Shows

I'm avoiding ALL reality shows this summer if I can help it. I don't want to know how Kathy Griffin is dealing with being a D-lister, how "celebrities" (emphasis on the quotes) are surviving in the jungle, or who has the most talent (or "talent") in America. I'd rather spend my time getting sunburned.
