The problem Microsoft has, and needs to address in the months after the Office 2010 release, is that they don't roll out frequent interim upgrades. Google Docs changes all the time, though keeping track of the changes would be difficult, it seems to be improved constantly, while Microsoft has become complacent, issuing service packs every year or two.
Office 2010 should be the beginning of a constant engineering effort to make the product better daily, not annually. Anyone from Microsoft care to comment?
posted about 1 year agoAt least Microsoft asks for upgrade fees only once every three or four years. Apple's word processing and presentation apps are upgraded every year for $80. By the time Microsoft's new Office comes out, the price for the two are the same.
