Here's the deal: I've been doing yoga pretty regularly for the past year, and loving it. I'm definitely feeling stronger, longer and leaner. However, I recall doing some Pilates in my PT routine after back surgery 10 years ago, and I appreciated its consistent focus on core strength. Would a regular Pilates routine be better for someone with a geriatric back? (Hypothetically speaking, of course.)
I'm a yoga nut. Got into it three years ago and feel like it makes me a stronger runner, which is my #1. I'm usually one of the only dudes in the class, but that's more than OK w/me.
Pilates is more expensive, so that pretty much dictates my choice.
Why can't you do both? Some studios offer both, and you'd probably get a more well-rounded workout.
Never felt better after yoga.
Easy on the body.
