According to this article from the AP (http://seattletimes.nwsource.com/html/health/2010258555_apusmedsmokingrates.html) , cigarette smoking increased last year for the first time in 15 years. How can that be possible? I thought smoking was on a permanent decline.

What?! Whoa. Very surprising. I need to read the article, but my gut reaction is that it's due to RECESSION STRESS. That's the most likely cause in my mind.

I don't believe there should be any hysteria.  I would like to see more pipe smoking.  I love the aroma of Pipe tobacco.  I would also like to see States repealing their smoking bans, and giving accommodation to tobacco consumers.  I whole heartedly do not believe the Government belongs here.  It should be up to the owners of Business's to decide what level of accommodation they wish to offer.
