For me, it'll take nothing short of a miracle. The books that sit in my bookshelf are some of my most prized possessions, and some are from my grandmother, who was a librarian and an all-around incredible woman. Call me old fashioned, but the Kindle just doesn't do it for me. I stare at a computer all day for work; I don't wanna curl up with one when I get home.
I'm just waiting for the prices to drop, and then I'm all over it. I know the Kindle 2 already dropped to $299, but that'd still hurt my wallet a little too much right now.
@Sparky You're old fashioned. There, I said it.
By far the best gift that I have ever received. I love my Kindle!! I always have a book in my face. It is definitley worth it.
I'm going to be getting a Kindle 2 soon hopefully :D there are some e-books I already got to put on it, waiting to read them...but there are some books that I will still buy in paperback/hardcover. I can't completly give up on them..I love going to a book store and picking out brandnew clean books :D
I love my Kindle, that is it, that is all I have to say.
Abolition of copyrights on digital media. Otherwise, go fuck yourselves.
I love my physical books, but the Kindle has revolutionized the way I read...and the amount! I'm reading more than ever; I suppose because I carry it everywhere I go. If my mood changes, I have a book handy that suits my needs. And, the amount of free books out there is astounding, both new and classics. I still buy physical cookbooks, art/photography books and special editions, but for everyday reading, digital can't be beat.
I buy a LOT of books -- from the big bookstores, from the little mom-pop shops, library sales, garage sales, you get the picture... With a reading addiction like mine, books have to be reasonably priced -- and a digital copy that sells for more than a paperbak does... NOT going to happen. I love being able to give a book that I fell in love with to someone who will be moved as I was... and how does one do that digitally?
I LOVE the idea of having several novels to choose from in the size of an oversized paperback (oh the tingles that sends down my spine)... but until it is MUCH more affordable to purchase books AND free to share a purchased book with another, I am sticking with old school.
I read all my books on my Kindle for iPhone. Since I am never without my phone, I am never without my books! I LOVE it, I find I read so much more now. I never have to hold a book open while eating or exercising, plus I can read in the dark with no awkward booklight, and it is lighter to hold up than a book. I will never read a paper book again!
