Hype, hype, and more hype. With a $40,000 price tag, GM better deliver.
What is with the hype? It's -astounding.- I thought I was crazy until I saw on CNET that they were thinking the exact same thing:http://reviews.cnet.com/4520-10895_7-6760851-1.html
There's a great roundup of opinions at greenstockcentral. And the survey says....reactions are mixed. Helpful, huh?
Basically, the theory it is positiing (LA to Las Vegas on $3???) is an amazing one. But the question is whether that's actually true, and whether people can afford or will want to buy the car. But GM is absolutely right, though -- IF the volt is -what is says it is- than it will definitely change the way people think about driving, and possibly even help the recession.
Too mych hype. I like the way this blogger put it:
"Do you really believe that this vehicle will offer 230 miles per gallon? Does this mean I can drive 230 miles without stopping for gas? If so, this is the best news I've ever heard!
The GM Volt is nothing that a Ford Fusion, Toyota Prius, or a Honda Insight can't do if they had a plug-in option to recharge the battery."
