What is a “sponsored” discussion at SparkWords?

At SparkWords, we want the things you care about to get heard, seen, and spread. In order to offer you an easy way to debate any topic under the sun absolutely free, we allow businesses, individuals, and advocacy groups to sponsor discussions. In the spirit of transparency, we thought we’d let you know what the term “sponsored” means…

A sponsored discussion is just like any other SparkWords discussion, except that we work with the sponsor to drive as many participants to the discussion as possible. Oh, and we give the sponsor a report on how many people participated in the discussion, how many people shared the discussion with their friends, etc. Other than that, sponsored discussions are no different than non-sponsored discussions. The sponsors you see here are simply members of the SparkWords community, meaning they have no special privileges and receive no added benefits. They cannot censor or moderate discussions; they can only start new ones and engage in discussions just like everyone else, subject to the same Terms of Service.

Beyond making it possible for you to use SparkWords for free, we’ve found that sponsors have a genuine interest in engaging with people in an open, authentic and two-way manner. From Pringles to politics, from health-care policy to Jay Leno, SparkWords sponsors care what you think and want to listen and engage.

So, keep talking smack, proving your point, ranting, raving, sharing, and having fun. We’ll just be over here, making sure your microphone is working with the volume on high. And if by chance you’re interested in sponsoring a SparkWords discussion yourself, just click here to learn more.
